Iran to Dispatch City Buses to Provide Services for Pilgrims

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran is to send its city buses to border regions and Iraq in order to provide pilgrims with transportation services from the holy city of Najaf to Karbala, a Tehran municipality official said.

“140 buses are providing services in Shalamcheh, Chazzabeh, and Mehran border crossings and 108 buses are in Iraq for transporting pilgrims," the Cultural Deputy of Tehran Municipality Meysam Amroudi said.

He went on to say that 50 buses are now working in Najaf-Karbala route and 50 buses in Hillah-Najaf route.

He expressed the hope that Tehran would dispatch its city buses to provide service from Iranian border to Najaf or from Najaf to 40 kilometers away from Karbala.

The number of Iranian pilgrims that have travelled to Iraq so far to participate in Arbaeen ceremony in the holy city of Karbala has passed 900,000.

Iran on Friday dispatched a large convoy of medical staff to Iraq to provide services to the pilgrims who travel to the holy city of Karbala.

The convoy, consisting 25 vehicles, offers medical services to the pilgrims that travel the 80-kilometer route between Najaf and Karbala on foot.
