“Iran is among the world's leading countries in the field of nanotechnology and we will definitely boost our cooperation with the Islamic Republic in this area,” Nguyen Hong Thach told the Tasnim News Agency on Monday.

The diplomat announced that Vietnam’s high-ranking officials will travel to Iran to visit the country’s scientific achievements.

In early September and in a meeting with the Vietnamese ambassador, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani hailed common stances adopted by Iran and Vietnam in the international arenas, and called for continued cooperation between the two countries.

“There is no obstacle to the development of relations between Iran and Vietnam,” President Rouhani said at the time.

Vietnam and Iran established diplomatic relations on August 4, 1973.

Vietnam was among the first countries to recognize the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
