Iran provides financial and military assistance to the Palestinian groups without any expectation and does not pursue anything but the continuation of the anti-Israeli resistance, Zahar was quoted as saying by the New Orient News.
He made the comments on the sidelines of a rally held in the Gaza Strip to mark the 27th anniversary of the foundation of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement.
Zahar also stressed that Hamas has focused efforts on encountering the Israeli enemy, underlining the movement’s unwillingness to interfere in either the regional conflicts or the internal affairs of the other countries.
Last week, Muhammad Nasr, the head of a Hamas delegation to Tehran, had voiced the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement’s enthusiasm for closer relations with Iran.
“Hamas is very interested in strengthening its age-old relations with Iran and makes special efforts to do that,” he said on December 9.
