TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani left Tehran on Sunday, starting a tour of three regional countries.

Larijani will start the tour with a visit to Syria. He will then pay visits to Lebanon and Iraq with the aim of developing bilateral relations with the three regional countries and discuss ways for enhancing the security and political conditions in the region.

Prior to his departure, Larijani told reporters at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport that regional, security and parliamentary issues will be on his agenda during his meetings with Syrian, Lebanese and Iraqi officials.

He also underlined Iran’s close relations with the three countries and said enhancing ties with Damascus, Beirut and Baghdad will be discussed during his regional tour.

Earlier this week, Syrian Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi paid a visit to Tehran and held talks with a number of high-ranking Iranian officials on ways to promote bilateral relations in all spheres.

Iraqi Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri also made a trip to Tehran on December 16 and met with senior Iranian officials during his two-day visit.
