‘Self-Sufficiency’ Main Message of Iranian Army’s Drills

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Air Force spokesman described “self-sufficiency” as the most important message of the upcoming drills.

The most important message these drills communicate to the world is that “Iranian Army’s Air Force has long become self-sufficient,” Brigadier General Hossein Chitforush said on Tuesday.

Chitforush stressed that the emergence of a new generation of air force commanders leading these drills is one of the main characteristics of the upcoming maneuver.

As regards the duties of Air Force in these drills, he mentioned that all air force bases are involved in this maneuver and take responsibilities in various areas including fighter jets, bombers, and aerial tankers as well as reconnaissance, air transport, airdrop, and military parachuting.

“The Air Force is also responsible for ensuring the security of all areas covered during the drills,” Chitforush added.

A large-scale maneuver, titled “Muhammad Rasullullah” (Muhammad, the messenger of God), will be held on December 25-31.

The Army’s four forces, namely the Ground Force, Air Force, Navy, and Air Defense, will take part in the drills, planned to be carried out in a large area of 2.2 million square kilometers, stretching from the northern Indian Ocean to the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf and in the southern Iranian provinces of Sistan and Baluchestan and Hormozgan.
