President Rouhani Felicitates Counterparts on Christmas, New Year

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani in separate messages on Wednesday congratulated leaders of the Christian states on the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ and the beginning of New Year.

In his congratulatory messages, Rouhani also wished a new year of prosperity and health for the governments and nations of Christian States.

"By proposing the idea of the World against Violence and Extremism (WAVE) which was unanimously approved at the UN General Assembly, the Islamic Republic of Iran has tried to take a step in the challenging path of expanding security and development," President Rouhani said.

Rouhani also said that his country will continue its efforts along with other states to reach the final goal of elevating excellence of human being and respecting the human dignity.

Christmas is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ observed most commonly on December 25 as a religious and cultural celebration among millions of people around the world.
