Iranian, Emirati Diplomats Hold Consular Meeting

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Deputy foreign ministers from Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday discussed a range of consular affairs in an annual meeting, held in the Emirati capital of Abu Dhabi.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Expatriates' Affairs Hassan Qashqavi and Emirati Assistant Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Jarman co-chaired the 9th meeting of Iran-UAE Joint Consular Cooperation Commission.

The two sides also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the conclusion of the meeting.

The 17-clause document includes measures to simplify visa formalities, settle the residence problems of the two countries’ nationals, enhance judicial ties on anti-narcotics and cooperation between the coast guards.

The meeting, held at the UAE Foreign Ministry, was also attended by representatives from Iran’s Judiciary, the International Police (Interpol), Iran’s Border Police and the Red Crescent Society.
