MP: Iran-Algeria Cooperation Effective in Counter-Terrorism

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A prominent Iranian lawmaker said Tehran and Algiers can exchange their experiences to counter the threat of terrorism in the region.

“Given the threats of terrorism in North Africa and the Middle East region, the exchange of experience between the two countries (Iran and Algeria) could play an influential role in launching an effective battle against terrorism and preventing its spread,” Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Tuesday.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Algeria’s ambassador to Tehran, Sofiane Mimouni.

The Arab envoy, for his part, cautioned against the menace of terrorist groups to the global peace and security.

Mimouni also called on the Muslim nations to remain vigilant in the face of terrorist groups, which he said benefit from the backing of the West and its allies.
