Iran Self-Sufficient in Oil, Gas Pumps Production

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Managing director of Iran Industrial Pumps Company said that the country is now fully self-sufficient in producing different pumps used in oil and gas industries.

Faraj Pourvand told reporters that Iran has become self-sufficient in the production of cryogenic pumps used to pump liquid propane gas at -48 Celsius degree.

“Domestically manufactured pumps have a quality similar to that of European products, and enjoy a quality higher than Asian countries' products,” Pourvand stressed.

“Few countries in the world has the technology (to manufacture such pumps), and now Iran is one of the four countries that can produce these pumps,” he added.

Pourvand further noted that the domestic production of oil, gas, and petrochemical pumps saves over $400 million for the country.

The pumps are employed at different phases of South Pars Gas Field and will boost up government’s plans to increase gas production.

South Pars is the world's largest gas field, shared between Iran and Qatar.
