Oman Edges Kuwait to Avoid Group A bottom Spot

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Oman's national football team defeated Kuwait to finish third in Group A of the 2015 AFC Asian Cup on Saturday.

Paul Le Guen's men, who had already suffered two losses against South Korea and Australia, defeated Kuwait 1-0 at the Newcastle Stadium.

Al Muqbali scored the only goal of the match in the 69th minute. The two teams met in a battle to avoid bottom spot.

Kuwait enjoyed more success in behind the Oman defence as the half went on, and went close again when Musaed Al Enazi headed over from a corner.

Kuwait then squandered a couple of late chances to encapsulate a frustrating tournament as the team leaves Australia without winning a point.

In the same group, South Korea defeated host Australia 1-0 thanks to a 33rd minute’ Lee Jeong-hyeop.
