Murder of Muslims Shows Growing Brutality in US: Iranian Students

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's Student Center of Human Rights (Beautiful Peace Institute) denounced the recent killing of three Muslim students in the United States, describing it as a sign of growing savagery in the country.

“The killing of black citizens by the police and the recent murders show that savagery and barbarism is growing in the United States,” the human rights group said in a statement on Sunday, referring to the recent murder of three Muslim students in North Carolina.

They went on to say that this kind of brutality is not culturally-motivated, but results from the US efforts to portray Islam as a religion of terrorism.

Iranian students deplored the silence of human rights organizations over such incidents, saying, “The Islamophobia project maintained by the US and its networks is against Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and its principles.”

A 46-year-old man gunned down three young Muslim students in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on February 10.

Newlywed Deah Shaddy Barakat, 23, a University of North Carolina dental student, his wife, Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, 21, and her sister, Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha, 19, a student at North Carolina State University, were killed in a condominium about two miles (three km) from the UNC campus.
