TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is scheduled to pay a visit to Belarus on Tuesday for diplomatic talks.

The Iranian minister will travel to Minsk after a one-day visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

According to Belarus’ Foreign Ministry, Zarif’s official visit will take place at the invitation of his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Makei.

Zarif and Makei will hold talks with the aim of coordinating the stances of Iran and Belarus in the international scene and expanding the bilateral relations, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry noted.

The new building of Iran’s embassy in Minsk will also be inaugurated during Zarif’s visit to the East European country.

Iran and Belarus established diplomatic relations in 1992. They have enjoyed good relations in recent years, signs of which are obvious in regular high-profile meetings and a host of agreements.

In 2014, the Belarusian foreign minister visited Iran two times, in March and December, showing friendly ties between Tehran and Minsk.
