Another Bangladeshi National Abducted from Libyan Oil Field

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Bangladeshi Embassy in Tripoli confirmed that apart from Helal Uddin, another Bangladeshi national has been identified to be among those abducted from Libya 's southern oil field al-Ghani on March 6, said a spokesperson in Dhaka on Tuesday.

Bangladeshi Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Khaleda Begum said the Bangladeshi man was abducted in the same incident when gunmen invaded the oil field and killed 11 guards before local forces fought back to retake control.

It has been informed that the person, named Mohammad Anowar Hossain, was initially mistakenly identified as a Sudanese national having a similar name, she added.

However, Anowar's identification was confirmed by a Bangladeshi working in a neighboring oil field, Begum said in a press release.

Militants loyal to the Islamic State group are believed to be behind the attack, Xinhua reported.

Libyan Foreign Ministry informed the Bangladeshi mission that they were trying heart and soul to rescue them.

After the attack on last Friday, 21 Bangladeshis employed in a neighboring oil field were taken to safe places, she said, adding the Bangladeshi Embassy in Tripoli is maintaining constant vigil on the matter.
