Iran Beats India in Asian Women's Handball Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran grabbed its first win of the Asian Women's Handball Championship, defeating India on Thursday.

The Iranian team beat India 42-24 at the Popki Sport Hall, Jakarta, Indonesia.

Iran had already lost to South Korea (11-60) and Japan (11-45) in Pool A.

Iran will play Hong Kong for 16th to 24th position classification rounds on Saturday.

The Asian Handball Nations Championship is the official competition for senior national handball teams of Asia, and takes place every two years.

In addition to crowning the Asian champions, the tournament serves as a qualifying tournament for the World Championship, which will be held in Denmark.
