AFC Beach Soccer Championship: Iran Too Powerful for Thailand
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran defeated Thailand 8-1 in Group D of the 2015 AFC Beach Soccer Championship on Wednesday.
The Iranian team opened the campaign with a narrow 3-2 victory over Lebanon on Monday.
Peyman Hosseini (3rd), Hassan Abdollahi (8th), Mohammadali Sadeghi (8th), Farid Boulokbashi (4th, 17th), Mohammad Moradi (19th, 33rd) and Ali Naderi (34th) scored for Iran and Vitoon Tapinna was on target for Thailand in the 23rd minute.
Iran has been scheduled to face the UAE in the quarterfinals on Friday.
The tournament will serve as the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup qualifier for teams from the AFC, where the two finalists and the winner of the third place match will qualify for the 2015 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Portugal.
