"The Islamic Republic of Iran and Pakistan are two friendly and neighboring countries with cultural, religious, and historical commonalities," Rahmani Fazli said in a ceremony held in Tehran to mark Pakistan's National Day.

He congratulated the nation and government of Pakistan on the country's national day and said the expansion of political, economic, and cultural ties between the two neighboring Muslim countries would open brighter horizons before the Iranian and Pakistani nations.

Rahmani Fazli further referred to the agreements reached between Tehran and Islamabad, especially in the fields of security, counter-terrorism, and combating drug and human trafficking, and said Iran will seriously pursue the implementation of the agreements to help eradicate terrorism and extremism in the region.

The Iranian minister also expressed Tehran's willingness to cooperate with Pakistan in resolving regional issues, particularly the ongoing crisis in Yemen.

Elsewhere in the ceremony, Pakistan's Ambassador to Iran Noor Muhammad Jadmani hailed the relations between the two countries as "very good and warm", and expressed the hope that further expansion of bilateral ties would benefit both nations.
