Task Force to Investigate Terrorist Attack in Southeastern Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's Police said it has established a Task Force to probe into a recent terrorist attack in southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan, in which 8 Iranian border guards were killed by the Pakistan-based Jaish-ul-Adl terrorist group.

The issue is currently under investigation by a special Task Force, Deputy Police Chief for Social Affairs Brigadier General Saeed Montazer al-Mahdi said in a press conference on Tuesday morning.

The Iranian border guards were killed in Sistan and Balouchestan on Monday when assailants coming from Pakistan opened fire on them in an ambush and escaped across the border, a provincial official said.

In its social network account, the Jaish-ul-Adl terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack.

In a similar event on Thursday, three Iranian policemen who were on duty at a makeshift station were killed when unknown gunmen opened fire on their station at a park in the city of Hamidiyeh, southwestern Khuzestan province.

Montazer al-Mahdi also touched upon the Hamidiyeh incident, saying that the Police have found some clues and arrested a number of suspects linked to the deadly attack.
