Iran Urges Concerted Efforts to End Yemen War

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said all countries, including Iran and Saudi Arabia, should contribute to the end of war in Yemen.

The crisis in Yemen has only a Yemeni solution, Zarif said in a joint press conference with Sartaj Aziz, the Pakistani premier’s adviser on national security and foreign affairs, in Islamabad on Wednesday.

Zarif also called for an immediate ceasefire in Yemen, stressing that people of the Arab country should not have to face aerial bombardment.

On March 26, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies began to militarily interfere in Yemen's internal affairs by launching deadly air strikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

The Saudi-led coalition, including military forces from Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, Egypt, Sudan, Bahrain, Morocco, Jordan, and Egypt, has killed hundreds of civilians so far.

The top Iranian diplomat, who paid a visit to Oman before travelling to Islamabad, held a meeting with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday morning.
