Extremists Affiliated with Saudi DM behind Attack on Shiite Mosque: Report

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A deadly suicide attack on a Shiite mosque in eastern Saudi Arabia on Friday was masterminded by extremist Wahhabis that are affiliated with young Saudi Defense Minister Mohammad bin Salman, a report said.

Bousla News website quoted informed sources in Saudi Arabia as saying that the Friday terrorist attack on Imam Ali (PBUH) Mosque in the village of al-Qadeeh, located in the oil-rich kingdom’s Qatif district, was carried out by extremist Wahhabis with links with bin Salman, who is also Saudi Arabia’s deputy crown prince.

The blast killed 21 Shiite worshippers and injured more than 150 others.

According to the report, the extremists had planned a same attack in another mosque in the Qatif region, but the plot was foiled and people have even captured a Takfiri terrorist behind the plot.

The Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group has claimed in an online statement that it carried out the deadly suicide bomb attack.
