Saudi Regime Implementing Israel's Policies in Region: Yemeni Clerics

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Yemeni clerics strongly condemned the bombardment of mosques in Yemen by the Saudi-led coalition, saying that Riyadh is implementing the policies of the Zionist regime of Israel in the region.

In a statement on Saturday, a number of religious groups, including Yemen Scholars Union, Islamic Zaidi Council, Islamic Shafi'i Council and Islamic Sufi Council, condemned the Saudi attacks on two mosques in the Yemeni capital of Sana’a and the southern province of Taiz.

The Yemeni clerics further slammed the Saudi regime for sticking to its policy of sowing discord and creating conflicts and wars among Muslims and for providing financial and logistical supports to the terrorist groups in some regional and trans-regional countries.

"Saudi rulers are directly responsible for implementing the Israeli policies in the region…," they underlined.

The statement also decried Friday’s deadly terrorist attack on worshippers in Imam Ali (PBUH) Mosque in eastern Saudi Arabia, which left at least 21 Shiite Muslims dead and dozens more injured.

On March 26, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies began to launch deadly air strikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

According to Yemen's Freedom House Foundation, the Saudi airstrikes have claimed the lives of nearly 4,000 Yemeni people so far while more than 7,000 others have been wounded, most of them civilians.
