TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Tens of thousands of people participated in the funeral procession held for the 21 Shiite Muslims, who were killed in a deadly terrorist attack on a mosque in Qatif, east of Saudi Arabia.

The procession was held in Qatif district at 3:00 pm on Monday and the bodies of the victims were conveyed to the village of al-Qadeeh.

The 21 Shiites lost their lives and 97 others sustained injuries on Friday, when an explosion ripped through Imam Ali (PBUH) Mosque in the village.

A bomber reportedly blew himself up in the mosque as more than 150 people had gathered for Friday prayers.

Later in the day, the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group claimed in an online statement that it carried out the deadly suicide bomb attack.

The Al Saud dynasty had been among the staunch supporters of Takfiri terrorists operating in Syria and Iraq over the past years.
