Iran's Persepolis Knocked Out of AFC Champions League

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Persepolis football team bowed out in the AFC Champions League Round of 16, being defeated by Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal on Tuesday night.

The Iranian football team lost to Saudi Arabian giant 3-1 on aggregate and failed to book a place in the next stage.

Yousef Al Salem gave Al Hilal a lead in the 29th minute before Shalhoub put the Saudis in front in the tie for the first time just before the hour mark from the spot kick.

Soon after, Persepolis dominated the match and created some chances but failed to find the back of the net.

Substitute Abdulaziz Al Dawsari made it 3-0 in stoppage time.

Iranian striker Mehdi Taremi was sent off in the dying seconds for a second bookable offence.
