On April 2, 2015, Iran and the six powers reached a framework agreement on Tehran's civilian nuclear program after intensive negotiations in Lausanne with both sides committed to push for a final, comprehensive accord until the end of June.
The framework provides a series of solutions that will be the basis of a comprehensive joint plan of action.
According to the framework agreement, the nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran by the United Nations Security Council, the European Union and the US will be removed.
What impedes the nuclear talks is the attempt and the growing demands to raise new issues, Zarif, who is also Iran's chief nuclear negotiator, told Al-Manar TV network during his visit to Moscow on Thursday.
He is in Russia to attend a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs and the High-level Conference “Security and Stability in the SCO Region.”
"If all parties stick to understandings achieved in Lausanne, we will reach a nuclear deal," Zarif noted.
He also expressed the hope that the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) in Vienna would achieve progress.
