Iran’s President Urges Regional Cooperation against Terrorism

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani underscored the necessity for cooperation between Middle Eastern countries to establish peace and security in the region.

Rouhani expressed regret over the ongoing crises and conflicts in the region, saying that all countries in the Middle East should work together to stop bloodshed among Muslim brothers.

He made the remarks in a Thursday telephone conversation with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

“All regional countries are suffering from terrorism because terrorist acts benefit none of the regional countries and is a big obstacle to the development of the region and promotion of ties between the countries,” Rouhani stressed.

He further called for the delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of all war-torn countries, particularly Yemen.

The Qatari emir, for his part, hailed as significant the role of Iran in the settlement of regional issues, adding that Tehran can play a very important role in the establishment of peace and security in the region.

Sheikh Tamim further noted that dialog is the key to the easing of tensions in the region, adding that the Iranian and Qatari foreign ministries should have a close cooperation to secure the interests of both nations and the Middle East.
