Five Matches Still Ahead, Iran Coach Kovac Says

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian national volleyball team's coach Slobodan Kovac said they have taken their first step toward booking a place in the 2015 FIVB World League second round.

Iran defeated USA in straight sets (25-19, 29-27, 25-20 ) in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium in Pool B Friday night.

“It was the first step toward booking a place in the next stage and five steps are still ahead of us,” Slobodan Kovac said in the post-match news conference.

“In my opinion, my players did a great job and I expect them to show another great performance in our second match. We could defeat USA once again,” the Serbian coach added.

“To play in Azadi Stadium was difficult for both of teams. However, for the USA it was more difficult but our players were under pressure as well,” he added.

“Pool B consists of four powerful teams and it made difficult for every team. We hope to beat the US on Sunday to keep alive our chance of advancing to the next round,” Kovac added.
