TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano will arrive in Tehran on Thursday in a bid to discuss the latest developments of talks on Iran's nuclear energy program.

According to an IRNA report, an informed source close to the Iranian negotiating team said on Wednesday that Amano will visit Iran to receive the country's proposals on removing certain misunderstandings over the country's nuclear program.

Amano is expected to hold talks with Iran's President Hassan Rouhani and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani during his stay here.

The IAEA chief is likely to confer with Rouhani on the past and present issues regarding Tehran's nuclear energy program.

Amano's visit will come as Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) are in talks to hammer out a lasting agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), end more than a decade of impasse over Tehran's civilian nuclear program.

They have held several rounds of talks in recent months, mostly in Vienna and the Swiss cities of Geneva and Lausanne.

The two sides have extended the talks for seven days after the self-imposed June 30 deadline expired on Tuesday night.
