4 Iranian Prisoners Extradited from Thailand

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Four Iranian prisoners were repatriated from Thailand on Tuesday morning to serve the rest of their prison term in their own country.

The extradition of the four prisoners came through coordination between Iranian and Thai officials, Shahrokh Hedayati, an advisor to the Iranian minister of justice, said.

He went on to say that the transfer was carried out under an extradition treaty signed between Iran and Thailand.

Hedayati further noted that since 2013, 20 Iranian citizens imprisoned in Thailand have been extradited to serve the rest of their sentences in Iran.

In February 2011, Iranian and Thai officials signed the treaty for extradition of criminals in Thailand's capital of Bangkok. The treaty was first passed by the Iranian parliament and then approved by the country's Guardian Council in February 2012.
