Leo Messi is considering taking time out from his international duties with Argentina, Spanish daily AS reported on Tuesday based onother story from an Argentinian sports daily.
According to The Argentian daily Olé, Messi has not made a definitive decision to temporarily take a back seat with Argentina but he has been hurt by a series of personal attacks – much more than the disappointment of losing another final with the Albiceleste.
As Olé recalls, Messi took similar measures following 2006 World Cup Germany, although in the end he only missed one of Argentina’s games – the friendly win over France in Paris the following February.
Now the situation has become insufferable and Messi is thinking about sitting out the friendlies scheduled for September and perhaps one or more of the 2018 World Cup Russia qualifiers.
