The shooting happened about 8:41 p.m. while the victim was on a bicycle near the intersection of 73rd Street and Broadway, Sgt. Rick Rodgers of the Los Angeles Police Department told KTLA 5 TV station.
The unidentified teen was struck multiple times by gunfire and taken to a hospital, where he died, the sergeant said.
The incident was likely gang-related, the LAPD said.
Broadway was closed between Florence Avenue and 76th Street while an investigation was conducted at the scene.
