Official Downplays Enemy's Anti-Iran Threats

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council on Monday played down world powers' continued threats against the country, saying they have never been successful.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran has been threatened by world powers for many years," Ali Shamkhani told the Tasnim News Agency, adding that these threats have never yielded any results.

He underlined that the enemy has failed wherever it has tried to threaten the Iranian nation.

In similar remarks on Saturday, Shamkhani had referred to the scope of threats made against Tehran as limited to media outlets.

"We should know that the scope of their threats does not go beyond the level of media outlets (and propaganda)," he told Tasnim.

His remarks came as certain Western countries have threatened time after time that all options, including military option, are on the table regarding Iran's nuclear energy program.

Senior Iranian officials have slammed the belligerent rhetoric, stressing that these are empty threats.
