Iran’s Karimi Bags Gold at Stepan Sargsyan Cup

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian national freestyle wrestler Alireza Karimi won the gold medal at 86kg in the Stepan Sargsyan Cup on Sunday.

After Soslan Tigiev of Uzbekistan withdrew from the final match, Karimi claimed the gold medal in the weight category.

Iran’s Mohammad Hossein Mohammadian at 97kg and Behnam Ehsanpour at 65kg had already won a gold and a bronze medal, respectively in the event.

Wrestling Federation of Armenia awarded money prizes for each weight category (1st place – $3000, 2nd place – $2000, 3rd place – $1000) and for the coach of the winner $500, as well as Cups, Diplomas and medals.

The following teams participated in the Cup: Armenia, Iran, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, France, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Iraq, Russia, Uzbekistan, Greece, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Turkmenistan, Italy, Turkey, Poland, Bulgaria, USA, China, Moldova.
