"The Islamic Republic of Iran regards the Iraqi people's problems as its own and has always sought the establishment of stability and tranquility in the (neighboring) country," Boroujerdi said in a Sunday meeting in Tehran with Hakim al-Zamili, the chairman of the Iraqi parliament's security and defense commission.
He further emphasized that the ongoing security crisis in Iraq has been caused by the interference of foreign countries.
Certain Western countries, including the US, and their regional allies are seeking to weaken and debilitate Muslim nations and serve the interests of the Zionist regime of Israel, Boroujerdi said.
However, he added, the anti-Israeli Resistance Front has forced the Western countries to retreat from their position.
The Iraqi parliamentarian, for his part, appreciated Tehran's material and spiritual assistance to Baghdad after the fall of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, particularly the military support Iran provided for Iraq in the fight against the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group.
Iraq has been facing the growing threat of terrorism, mainly posed by ISIL.
The ISIL militants made swift advances in much of northern and western Iraq over the last summer, after capturing large swaths of northern Syria.
However, a combination of concentrated attacks by the Iraqi military and the volunteer forces, who rushed to take arms after top Iraqi cleric Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani issued a fatwa calling for fight against the militants, have blunted the edge of the ISIL offensive.
Amid tensions in Iraq, Iran is known as the first country to help the Arab country and has always voiced support for Iraq's territorial integrity and prosperity.
