Iran’s First VP, Armenian PM Stress Expansion of Ties
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri in a telephone conversion with Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Argami Abrahamyan explored avenues for boosting the two neighboring countries' ties and cooperation in different economic fields.
During the conversation on Saturday, Jahangiri lauded Tehran-Yerevan growing relations.
“There are many grounds for mutual cooperation between the two countries and we can boost the level of our cooperation in different fields,” the Iranian vice-president noted.
“Iran is prepared to improve cooperation with Armenia in different fields, including energy, production and transfer of electricity, transit of goods and passengers through Iran-Armenia-Georgia route.”
Abrahamyan, for his part, renewed his invitation to Jahangiri to visit Armenia, and expressed pleasure for the removal of a number of obstacles in the way of bilateral relations.
In June, Iran's Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Tayyebnia had expressed the country's willingness to promote its relations with neighboring Armenia.
Iran sees no limitations for the development of ties with Armenia, he said, adding that Tehran is ready to remove any obstacles to the reinforcement of bilateral cooperation.
He made the remarks in a meeting with Armenia's Ambassador to Iran Artashes Tumanyan in the capital city of Tehran.
"Iranian companies enjoy good capabilities in the field of technical and engineering services and are ready to participate in the implementation of different projects in Armenia," the Iranian minister stated at the time.
The meeting came a few days after Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Asian and Pacific Affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour conferred with Armenian foreign and energy ministers on ways to develop economic cooperation between the two countries.
