Velayati Calls Iran’s Achievements in Scientific Development ‘Impressive’

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head of the Strategic Research Center of Iran's Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati praised the country’s scientific progress in various areas and said the achievements can be shared with other countries.

Addressing an international conference of Muslim physicians in Tehran on Tuesday, Velayati highlighted Iran’s role in the development of sciences in diverse spheres, particularly in medicine.

“On the development of sciences, Iran, through careful planning, has managed to achieve impressive successes that can be presented to other countries,” he stated.

Velayati further pointed to Iran’s 50 medical research centers, saying that the country has gained significant accomplishments in medical fields, including in the treatment of tuberculosis.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Velayati, who is also Secretary-General of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening, expressed the hope that the Muslim medical doctors participating in the conference would provide the grounds for enhanced relations among Islamic countries.

The international conference was inaugurated on Thursday with over 400 Muslim physicians and academics from all around the world in attendance.

Sponsored by the Institute for Compilation and Publication of Supreme Leader's works, World Assembly of Islamic Awakening, and the Ahl ul-Bayt World Assembly, the conference is held in three cities of Mashhad, Tehran, and Shiraz mainly in cooperation with the cities' universities of medical sciences.
