No License for Big Mac to Operate in Iran: Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Iranian trade official said no license will be issued for the American fast-food giant McDonald’s to launch its business inside the country.

The issue was raised by Chairman of Iran’s Chamber of Guilds Ali Fazeli on Sunday.

He told the Tasnim News Agency that the American fast-food giant has not made a request for resuming its activity inside Iran.

All international restaurant brands require to receive license in order to open branches across the country, Fazeli added.

Fazeli also said that this is only cyber hype that McDonald will be granted the license to start business in Iran.

The promising prospect of trade with Iran has prompted giant American firms to explore the market potential in the populous Middle East nation.

The developments came as Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 reached a conclusion on a lasting nuclear agreement that would terminate all sanctions imposed on Tehran over its nuclear energy program after coming into force.
