Diplomat: Iran Ready for All Scenarios on Nuclear Issue

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Iranian deputy foreign minister said Tehran is prepared to deal with any possible event following the conclusion of talks with major world powers over its nuclear program.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is fully prepared for all scenarios,” Abbas Araqchi told IRNA on Saturday.

Asked about Iran’s reaction in case the US Congress votes down a nuclear deal reached between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), Araqchi said he would not comment on the future events because of their unpredictable nature.

“The decisions will be subject to the processes (of reviewing the JCPOA) in the parliaments of the countries (Iran and the US),” the senior negotiator in the nuclear talks added.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (also known as the P5+1 or E3+3) on July 14 reached a conclusion on a lasting nuclear agreement that would terminate all sanctions imposed on Tehran over its nuclear energy program after coming into force.

The 159-page deal has its own opponents and proponents both in Iran and the other countries that are parties to the JCPOA, particularly the US.

While the United Nations Security Council has adopted a resolution to endorse the deal, the text of the document needs to be ratified by both Iran's Parliament and the US Congress.
