Iran’s Kimia Alizadeh Wins Gold at World Taekwondo Grand Prix

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Kimia Alizadeh from Iran won the gold medal at the 2015 WTF World Taekwondo Grand Prix Series 1 in Moscow, beating Olympic champion Jade Jones on Sunday.

The Welsh woman picked up two points in the third and final scheduled round as she took a 3-0 lead before a last gasp head kick five seconds from the end from the Iranian levelled the score at 3-3.

This took the contest to a golden point where Kimia Alizadeh won the match in the -57kg weight division.

Iran’s Abolfazl Yaghoubi also claimed a bronze medal in 68kg weight class.

South Korean duo Kim Hun and Lee Dae-hoon won gold and silver medals, respectively.

On Saturday, Iran’s Farzan Ashour Zadeh had won a gold medal in the men’s -58kg after defeating Mexico's Carlos Navarro.
