Activist Warns UAE against Meddling in Yemen

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior Yemeni human rights activist warned the United Arab Emirates against the consequences of its military interference in Yemen.

Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, Seyyed Sadiq al-Sharafi said the Yemeni people have a legitimate right to respond to aggressors, including the UAE.

“The UAE (forces) have entered Yemen, occupied some parts of our soil and shed the blood of Yemeni citizens,” he stated.

Al-Sharafi said the UAE used to have a special status among Yemenis, and the two peoples enjoyed a very good relationship.

“But today, (the UAE rulers) are interfering in Yemen’s internal affairs and this will have many consequences for you (Emiratis).”

On March 26, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies, including the UAE, began to launch deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

More than 4000 people, many of them children and women, have been killed in the Saudi-led aggression against the Arab country so far.
