Iran’s 7-Month Steel Production Up by %3.7: Report

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s steel production output in the first seven months of 2015 has risen by 3.7 percent from 9.305 million tons in the corresponding period last year, a report by the World Steel Association said.

Based on the released data, Iran’s crude steel production in the first 7 months of 2015 stood at 9.645 million tons, indicating a 3.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

According to the figures, world crude steel production for the 65 countries reporting to the World Steel Association was 945.843 million tons in January-July 2015, showing a 2.1% decline compared to the first seven months of 2014.

The 65 countries included in the report had accounted for approximately 98% of total world crude steel production in 2014.

The World Steel Association represents approximately 170 steel producers -including 9 of the world's 10 largest steel companies- national and regional steel industry associations, and steel research institutes. Its members represent around 85% of world steel production.
