"Such contacts are constantly being held on the expert level, as the export of such materials (uranium) is a complex task and requires certain technical measures, including to ensure the safety of shipments," Zamir Kabulov told RIA Novosti.
Kabulov added talks on the uranium export deal are currently at the level of "preparing the implementation of the agreement."
Elsewhere in his remarks, he said President of Russian energy giant LUKoil Vagit Alekperov is set to visit Iran in September.
"Very soon, in September, Vagit Alekperov is going on a visit to Iran," Kabulov said.
Back on August 15, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said Russia and Iran are discussing the details of the implementation of the agreement on the export of uranium to Russia.
"There is a decision that the excess material accumulated in Iran - that’s about 8 metric tons - will be will be exported to Russia in exchange for supplies of natural uranium," he said.
