The visit which came at the official invitation of Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani will mainly focus on expansion of mutual relations.
A group of high-ranking politico-economic delegation is also accompanying Atambayev.
During his three-day stay in Tehran, the Kyrgyz president plans to exchange views with his Iranian counterpart and other top officials on ways to further improve cooperation.
Iranian and Kyrgyz officials are also scheduled to sign documents for cooperation in different sectors.
President Rouhani paid an official visit to Kyrgyzstan in September 2013 to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
