Argentina Overpowers Iran at FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Cup

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Julio Velasco’s Argentina defeated Iran 3-1 (25-27, 25-22, 25-22, 26-24) in the first round of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Cup at the Hamamatsu Arena on Tuesday.

Facundo Conte blasted 22 kills and three service aces, and deflected an attack; then Sebastian Sole commanded their net defence, scoring eight of their 16 total blocks. Seyed Mohammad Mousavi top scored for Iran with 13 points.

Velasco led Iran from 2011 to 2014 and inspired the team win two titles in the Asian Volleyball Championships in 2011 and 2013.

Iran has been scheduled to meet Tunisia in Group B on Wednesday.

The 2015 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Cup began on September 8 in Japan and will finish on September 23 in Japan.
