In the meeting with Niinisto, which was held on the sidelines of the Global Cleantech Summit 2015 in the Finnish capital of Helsinki, Ebtekar pointed to her meetings with high-ranking officials of the Northern European country and highlighted the capacities of Iran and Finland to boost relations.
“The two countries have good potentials to enhance cooperation in various areas of industry, trade, environment, climate change and tourism,” she noted.
The Finnish president, for his part, congratulated the Iranian nation on the recent nuclear agreement with the six world powers, saying the nuclear talks were long and heavy but their outcomes have been positive so far.
Niinisto further described Iran-Finland relations as good, and emphasized that the two countries have not had any problems in bilateral relations so far.
He expressed the hope that barriers to bilateral trade ties would be lifted with the removal of the anti-Iran sanctions.
Niinisto also announced that a delegation headed by the finish minister for foreign trade and development will pay an official visit to Iran in the coming months.
The Global Cleantech Summit 2015 was held in Helsinki from September 8 to 10.
