October 18 JCPOA Adoption Day: US

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Top US officials have said the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) between Iran and world powers will be formally adopted on October 18, a report said.

According to a report by AP, senior Obama administration officials, speaking Thursday afternoon in a conference call with reporters, elaborated on the steps Iran should take before inspectors with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) ensure Iran’s compliance with the nuclear agreement.

They also added that the formal adoption of the agreement will be October 18, noting the exact time of the lifting of anti-Iran sanctions is not yet clear.

The call to reporters came the same day that the Obama administration announced that Stephen Mull, the outgoing ambassador to Poland, as a coordinator to ensure measures laid out in the JCPOA are implemented and verified.

“All of this will take a lot of effort and probably a fair amount of time,” AP quoted official as saying. “The ball is in Iran’s court — it’s hard to predict how long it will be before sanctions relief is implemented.”

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity.

The comprehensive nuclear deal between Iran and the six powers, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.
