Vietnam Eyes Rise in Trade Ties with Iran: MP

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Vietnamese Head of Vietnam-Iran parliamentary friendship group voiced the Southeast Asian country’s keenness for expanding trade ties with Iran.

“Enhancement of relations with Iran in all fields, particularly the trade and economic interactions, is a major axis of Vietnam’s regional policies,” Lee Kwang Hui said Saturday in a meeting in Tehran with the Iranian head of the parliamentary friendship group, Hossein Sobhaninia.

The Vietnamese lawmaker also hailed Iran as a major regional power with a bright, promising future.

He further touched on a lasting nuclear deal between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), saying the accord will help enhance regional and international peace and security.

For his part, Sobhaninia highlighted the commonalities between Iran and Vietnam in the fight against intruding powers and efforts to preserve independence.

Back in November 2014, an Iranian parliamentary delegation, led by Sobhaninia, visited Hanoi and met with a number of Vietnamese officials.

Iran and Vietnam established diplomatic relations on August 4, 1973.

Vietnam was among the first countries to recognize the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
