Chile Eager to Reopen Embassy in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Chilean Foreign Minister Heraldo Munoz has expressed his country’s preparedness to reopen its embassy in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

In a meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on the sidelines of the 70th UN General Assembly in New York, Munoz underlined that Santiago plans to send a top diplomat to Tehran to reopen it embassy in the capital in an attempt to promote its political ties with the Islamic Republic at the level of ambassador.

The Iranian foreign minister welcomed the move by Santiago.

The two foreign ministers also attached importance to the development of bilateral relations between the two countries in all fields particularly agriculture.

They further discussed the latest regional and international developments and underscored the need for more cooperation between Tehran and Santiago in order to find a political solution to the ongoing crises in Syria and Yemen. 

The 70th session of the UN General Assembly is underway at the UN Headquarters in New York.

Diplomats attending the session discuss a broad range of crucial issues, including human rights, disarmament, nuclear safety and global terrorism.
