Saudi-Led Airstrikes Hit Yemen Wedding Party, Killing 28

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Yemeni security officials say two airstrikes by the Saudi-led coalition on Monday targeting the Houthis have struck a wedding party, killing 28 people and wounding dozens.

The officials, who remain neutral in the conflict that has splintered Yemen, say Monday's strikes hit the celebration in al-Wahga, a village near the Strait of Bab al-Mandab.

A senior official loyal to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi says the strikes were "a mistake," according to the Associated Press.

The coalition has been pounding the Houthi group from the air for six months, trying to eject it from the capital Sana'a and restore the fugitive president to power.

The campaign has resulted in several mass killings of civilians, including 36 people at a water bottling plant in August and 25 workers at a milk factory in April.

All officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to talk to the media.
