Iran’s Zarif Holds Talks with Norwegian, Polish FMs

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is in New York, held separate meetings with his Norwegian and Polish counterparts.

Politics

In both meetings, held on the sidelines of the 70th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Tuesday, Zarif and his counterparts exchanged views on promoting the level of bilateral ties.

Zarif conferred with Norway’s Borge Brende and Poland’s Radoslaw Sikorski on significant regional and international issues, Syria in particular.

He also briefed the other parties on Tehran’s plans in fight against terrorism and settlement of regional crises.

Last year, Iran proposed a four-part plan for finding a political solution to the ongoing crisis in Syria, which was welcomed by the UN. Iranian officials say that plan has now been updated.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011. In the past four years, more than 240,000 people have died in Syria -overwhelmingly civilians– and around 4 million Syrian people are now refugees in other countries. Another 7.6 million are displaced inside Syria.
