Zarif, Kerry Hold Talks in New York Again

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and US Secretary of State John Kerry met on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly for the second time in the past seven days, discussing the implementation of the July 14 nuclear agreement between Tehran and wold powers.

"Taking advantage of their presence in New York before they both departed, Secretary Kerry and Foreign Minister Zarif met again on Friday to further their discussions about implementation of the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action)," Sputnik quoted US State Department Spokesperson John Kirby as saying in a Friday statement.

The previous meeting between Kerry and Zarif in New York took place on September 26.

A high ranking Iranian delegation is attending the UN annual session underway at the UN Headquarters in New York, US.

Iran and the Group 5+1 – the United States, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany (also known as P5+1 or E3+3)– on July 14 reached an agreement on Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program.

The final "Adoption Day" for the agreement is set for mid-October.

According to EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, the P5+1 group is currently waiting for the Iranian parliament to consider the deal before taking any further steps.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is expected to provide a final assessment on Iran by December 15.
