Carlos Queiroz Candidate to Take Charge of Egypt’s Al Ahly

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian national football team's head coach Carlos Queiroz has been shortlisted to take charge of Egyptian giant Al Ahly.

Al Ahly has sacked Fathi Mabrouk, after the team failed to win a major trophy for the first time since 2003-2004 season.

Former player Abdel Aziz Abdel Shafi - known as Zizo - has been drafted in as caretaker for the second time.

Queiroz, who has been on Mexico’s radar for a while, is a candidate to be appointed as Al Ahly coach.

Former Iran’s Persepolis coach Manuel José de Jesus Silva and Jose Vitor dos Santos Peseiro are in the running for the vacant job.
